📚 Lakeridge Day at Island Books - THIS Wednesday, May 20 | 9am - 6pm: Shop local, support Lakeridge! Island Books will donate a percentage of the day's sales to the Lakeridge PTA — a great reason to pick up some end-of-year teacher gifts, summer reads for the kids, or a little something for yourself. Please consider volunteering or donating the bites or beverages that will be served throughout the day. Sign up here

💖 Honoring Former Lakeridge Lion Kyra Gupta: Former Lakeridge Lion Kyra Gupta would have turned 13 on May 26. Kyra passed away on November 9, 2025, after fighting childhood cancer for more than three years with quiet, steady bravery that touched everyone who knew her. In her final act of generosity, she donated her body to science — her tumors are still being studied today. Kyra’s Hope Foundation continues her legacy by supporting children facing cancer and accelerating research for childhood cancers that remain incurable. In honor of her 13th birthday, the Foundation is inviting donations of $26 or more on May 26. 100% of funds go directly to families, research, and foundation programs. Learn more or donate.

☀️ Volunteering at Recess & Summer Watering: As the countdown to summer begins, here's a fun invitation for you! If you ask your child what their favorite part of the school day is, there’s a good chance the answer is recess. Now’s your chance to experience it for yourself! We invite parents and caregivers to join us during at least one lunch recess—feel the energy, hear the laughter, and maybe even catch a glimpse of your child in their natural habitat. You’re welcome to attend and help during:

• Walker’s Recess Club – Tuesdays 12:15 - 1:15, during lunch recess.  Sign up here.

• Garden Recess Club – Thursdays 12:15 - 1:15, during lunch recess.  Sign up here.

• Garden Summer Watering: The fall harvest depends on summer watering! Please consider signing up for a week to water the student garden.  Sign up here.

🎓 Order Your Grad Grams Now: Honor the 5th, 8th, and 12th graders you know with a Grad Gram! Each one is printed, personalized with your message, and mailed to the graduate's home. All proceeds support the MI Community Scholarship Program which awards scholarships to over 20 MIHS graduating seniors each spring who embody MISD’s 4B’s. If your company provides corporate matching for tax-deductible amounts, please don't forget to turn that in before the end of the year. We are appreciative of the matching funds that come in throughout the year.
